THE PRESIDENTS DINNER - NESTON SPORTS AWARDS 2018
The Presidents Dinner incorporating The Neston Sports Awards, was held on Friday 23 November 2018. President Antony Bush presented the evening in front of 166 members, representing a cross section of the Club, Cricket, Hockey, Tennis and Squash as well as Bridge, Thursday Club, Bowls and Table Tennis!
The evening was Sponsored by Award winning Constables Estate Agents, catering was by Award winning Cheeky Chilli.
During the evening we raised over £300 towards the The Shrimp Appeal.

Outgoing Club Member of the year, Andy Beddard, incredibly managed to retrieve the trophy from his house in Little Neston and return within 2 minutes 35 seconds!
The big two Awards went to Bern Thorne for Club Member and Oliver Mills for The Will Falck Young Member, both thoroughly deserved, for all the work they do for the club.
The Senior Performance Players went to Commonwealth Games competitor Izzie Howell who represented Wales at Hockey and Ash Davis who was the Cheshire Cricket Premier League Player of the season taking a record 66 wickets.
The Junior Boys Performance Player Award was shared between young Junior Cheshire Cricketer Luke Jones and Wales U18 Hockey player, Connor Horrigan. The Girls Award winner was Cheshire U14 Singles and U16 Doubles Tennis player Lara Wedd, who has played at Neston since she was 4 years old!
The all round athlete or Victrix Ludorum Award went to Emma Fearnley who plays 1st Team Hockey and Tennis, she also won it last year.
Coach of the Year Award was won by Sam Ransley who coached the Ladies Hockey Team to their best performance in their history.
The Senior Mens Team Award went to the Squash 1st Team who won Division 2 of the North West League for only the second time in their history.
During the evening young Tennis player Jack Coyle read a poem In "Flanders Field" by John McRae, to pay respect to the fallen heroes of World War 1, exactly 100 years ago. Later, long standing member Rob Toomey paid respect to passed President Brian McKowen, who passed away over the summer, he also instigated the President's Dinner, over 30 years ago, as well as starting The Riff Raff Tennis group, who were celebrating their 30th year! At the end of the evening all members joined hands and sang "Auld Lang Syne" and toasted the Club.
